Our weekend prenatal program is run either on a consecutive basis (i.e. 2 Saturdays or 2 Sundays in a row) or back-to-back Saturday/Sunday, depending on the month. Classes start at 9:00 am and finish at 4:00 pm. There is a lunch period and a couple of breaks throughout the day.

These classes are run at the Health Services Building of Markham Stouffville Hospital, located at Suite 403-379 Church Street, Markham, ON. This information will be included in your confirmation email and reminder emails, which you will receive after you register for this program.

As a guideline, we recommend that clients complete their prenatal training at least 4-6 weeks prior to their baby's due date.

You will learn:

Normal labour & birth - signs and stages
Pain relief options (both medicinal and non medicinal)
Medical interventions and their possible indicators
Positions for labour and breathing
Caesarean section
Tour of the Childbirth Centre at Markham Stouffville Hospital
What to expect after birth - physical & emotional changes
How to prepare for baby's arrival
Newborn's world - appearance, behaviours, medications, and routines.
Newborn care (Holding, Diapering, Burping, Bathing and Feeding)

Our 4-week evening program is run on a weekly basis, one Wednesday evening a week from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Cancellation / Rescheduling Policy

Thank you for taking the time to choose a prenatal session that works best with your schedule!

If you need to cancel your enrollment in any of our programs, Markham Prenatal & Newborn Educators Inc. can only accept cancellations up to four (4) weeks prior to the date of the first class. Cancellations will be subject to a 20% administration fee. We regret that we are unable to provide a refund for any cancellation request received under this 4-week period. This includes but is not limited to early delivery, bed rest or non-attendance.

At times, it may be necessary for Markham Prenatal & Newborn Educators Inc. to cancel a class with limited notice due to inclement weather or events beyond our control. Every effort will be made to inform you of the situation and provide a rescheduled class date.
